What makes this infrared sauna different from others?
-
Most saunas contain only far infrared sauna wavelengths providing fewer benefits.
-
Our infrared sauna consists of near waves, mid waves, and far infrared waves, each with distinct characteristics and frequency ranges. It’s impossible to deliver these three peak wavelengths at one time from a single source. However this sauna has unique technology that combines three heating elements in one sauna heater.
Why you should shower after a sauna session:
-
After an infrared sauna session, your body will try and continue the process of cooling down. Any sweat (still containing potentially unwanted substances like deodorant particles, and toxins that got released from inside your skin) that resides on your body will dry up afterwards and will remain on your skin, if no shower is taken.
Did you know:
-
This sauna basically makes your body more efficient on a cellular level, increasing healing, energy production, and caloric burn!
-
There are pre-set programs specifically for different benefits like weight loss, detox, auto immune conditions, etc...
Some brief science:
-
Near infrared wavelength- this short wavelength penetrates the skin’s surface more effectively than the other two. Scientific research shows that when delivered at the vital wavelength of 880nm without extreme heat or light, NIR promotes skin renewal, cell health, wound healing, and tissue growth.
-
Mid infrared wavelength- this wavelength penetrate deeper into the body’s soft tissue where inflammation occurs. MIR helps expand blood vessels and increases circulation, so more oxygen can reach injured areas of the body. This reduces pain and speeds the healing process.
-
Far infrared wavelength- this long wavelength reaches deepest into the body, where toxins are stored. By raising your core body temperature, it stimulates the sweat glands, resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat that leaves you feeling revitalized.

What should I wear in the sauna? If you want to get the most out of your sessions you will want to wear as little as possible. Some people will go nude, some wear a bathing suit, some wear shorts or a bra and underwear- it’s your choice since you have the space to yourself for the full 60 minutes.
-
What should I bring with me to my session? Please bring two towels (one to sit on in the sauna and one to shower with after), flip-flops, a robe (only if you prefer - You do have to walk from the sauna area down the hall to the bathrooms), what you will wear during your session and a change of clothes for after, and a water bottle.
-
Should I shower after my sauna session?Yes! During your session, you will sweat! Infrared saunas promote cellular detox and some will come out through your skin.. Any sweat residue (containing toxins, cosmetics, oils, bacteria, etc.) that resides on your skin after using the sauna will potentially get reabsorbed.
-
How long is a typical session? Can I use the sauna every day? Most people are in the sauna 30-45 minutes, 3-4 times a week, but it is safe to use every day. We recommend acclimating to the sauna first with shorter visits and drinking increased amounts of water to stay hydrated. Start Slowly, listen to your body and stop your session if you feel any discomfort.
-
What can I bring into the sauna? We encourage you to bring water (something with a lid to prevent spills) because hydration is essential! Please don't bring shoes or food into the saunas. You are welcome to bring your phone into the sauna, or use the Android tablet provided. You can also plug your cell phone into the system to play your own music or podcast over the speakers. Depending on how hot you like your sessions, it can heat up your phone.
-
What should I expect to feel after my first session? Some individuals can feel the difference right after their first session but usually clients need to use the sauna regularly to the best benefits over time. Immediately after a sauna session you will feel refreshed and/or relaxed and see a glow in your skin, similar to after a great workout. Any adverse reactions you may experience are the result of heat and detoxification. Symptoms may include: fatigue, aches and pains, rashes, bowel symptoms (usually increased), odours, and computer screen sensitivity. If you do experience any of these, it’s unlikely you’ll experience them for very long. Should they stay around longer than 1-2 days, seek the guidance of your health care professional.
-
How much should I expect to sweat? How much you sweat will depend on your individual body and the sweat you produce from infrared is usually oilier and less watery than other sweating experiences. You may not sweat much in your first visit or even the first month. Sweating can be a matter of practice. If you find you don’t sweat much at first, or you often don’t feel hot anyway, you can train your body to sweat by using the sauna regularly. Frequently, however, it’s quite simply that the air is so dry at first that it’s able to fully and instantly absorb all the moisture on your skin. You are sweating – you just can’t see it forming on your skin. In other words, “no sweat” isn’t quite the same as “no moisture loss”. So remember; it’s very important to hydrate during and after your session even if you don’t feel sweaty!

Why is a full spectrum infrared sauna better than others commonly found with only far infrared? The various infrared wavelengths penetrate the tissue layers differently and offer a wider range of benefits. Near, Mid and Far Infrared each provides its own special benefits: Near Infrared Benefits: Cell Health/Immunity Wound Healing Skin Rejuvenation Pain Relief Mid Infrared Benefits: Pain Relief Improved Circulation Weight Loss Far Infrared Benefits: Weight Loss Detoxification Blood Pressure Reduction Relaxation Near-infrared waves have a shorter frequency range and penetrate the epidermis layer of the skin. Near infrared technology used in Sunlighten infrared saunas is similar to the infrared used in cosmetic and healing devices. The LED technology allows our heaters to produce consistent near infrared without extreme heat or light, making it a safe option for near infrared use. Because mid-infrared wavelengths penetrate deeper into the body, they are beneficial for increasing circulation. So much so that mid infrared therapy mirrors the benefits of a passive cardiovascular workout! Regular mid infrared sauna therapy has been shown to significantly stimulate blood flow – its effects continuing on even after the sauna session is completed. Because far infrared sauna therapy penetrates the deepest and raises the core body temperature, it produces a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where most toxins reside. Far infrared also aids in blood pressure reduction & weight loss, burning up to 600 calories in one 40-minute session!

How safe is infrared heat?Infrared heat is completely safe and healthy for all living things. You can be exposed to infrared light for hours without the risk of burning. Infrared is a naturally occurring wavelength of the sun, but does not contain the harmful UV rays associated with unprotected sunlight. In fact, infrared heat is so safe, it is used in hospitals to warm newborn infants.
-
What’s the difference between Infrared Saunas and Traditional Saunas?Infrared heat is very gentle. The experience is similar to lying in the sun on a warm day and feeling the heat radiate to the core of your body. Unlike traditional (hot rock or steam) saunas–which operate at well in excess of 200°F–infrared heat has the benefit of being effective at a more comfortable operating temperature of 100°-150°F. Traditional saunas heat the ambient air vs. the body directly. Rather than inducing detoxification and relaxation, this can make the experience unbearably hot and difficult to breathe. Because infrared heat penetrates human tissue vs. simply heating the surface of the skin, infrared saunas are seven times more effective than traditional saunas at detoxifying the body. By raising the body’s core temperature, infrared saunas can produce a sweat composed of 20% toxins vs. only 3% toxins with a traditional sauna. Additionally, our full spectrum saunas provide so many more benefits based on each type of wavelength.
-
What is EMF? Is it harmful to the body?EMFs (electromagnetic fields) are waves of electric and magnetic energy radiating through space. EMFs are everywhere in our world today. Electrical appliances, computers, monitors, keyboards and mice, wireless modems, cordless phones, clock radios, hair dryers, mobile phones, microwave ovens and more – all produce EMFs. Although current scientific evidence provides no definitive answers regarding EMF being harmful, there is enough uncertainty that some people want to reduce their exposure to EMFs. For that reason, we chose a brand of IR sauna that has the lowest EMF emissions.
-
Does infrared technology interfere with implants (metal, silicone, etc.)?"Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared sauna.
-

How does infrared therapy benefit people with heart conditions, high blood pressure, and cardiac disease?"Infrared therapy has proven to reduce both cardiac events and deaths in patients. Studies show that therapy reduces blood pressure, lowers inflammatory hormones, and improves the strength of artery walls.
-
How does infrared therapy help people with chronic pain and arthritis? In studies on people suffering with chronic pain, adding infrared therapy to a combination of exercise, cognitive behavioral therapy and rehab was better at reducing pain than exercise, CBT and rehab alone. In a study of rheumatoid arthritis, infrared therapy reduced stiffness, pain and symptoms overall. In yet another study, four weeks of infrared therapy was shown to improve depression, mood, fatigue and performance. We have witnessed amazing results for our clients with autoimmune issues, gastrointestinal problems, chronic systemic inflammation, and so much more!

What is the difference between the single sauna & queen sauna? Both of our saunas are the same brand and provide the same benefits, but the queen provides more space, has more panels, and produces more NIR. Most clients upgrade to our queen so they can lay down and/or enjoy the extra space. Some report noticing the increase in near infrared wavelengths and others just enjoy the queen because they can pay a small fee to bring someone with them to their sessions. We have couples, friends, workout buddies, and mothers & daughters who share sauna sessions when they have a membership with us!
